1. On a new moon day, we cannot see the moon even though it is there in the sky. Why is that so?
Ans-1: On a new moon day, we cannot see the moon even though it is there in the sky because during this phase, the side of the moon facing Earth is not illuminated by the Sun.
The new moon occurs when the moon is positioned between the Earth and the Sun, with the side of the moon illuminated by the Sun facing away from Earth. As a result, the moon appears dark to us on Earth, making it invisible in the night sky.

Ans-2: On a new moon day, we can’t see the moon because it’s in between the Earth and the Sun. The sunlight is shining on the side of the moon that we can’t see from Earth, so it looks like the moon has disappeared from the sky. That’s why we can’t see it, even though it’s still up there.
2. Why do birds return to their nests earlier in winter than in summer?
Ans: Birds return to their nests earlier in winter than in summer because it gets dark earlier in winter. They need to find their nests before it gets too dark and cold.
In summer, it stays light for longer, so they have more time to find their way back home before it gets dark. So, in short, birds come back home earlier in winter because it gets dark earlier.

Ans: While Earth moving around the sun, the earth spins around itself. This spinning of the earth around itself is called the rotation of the earth. We have day and night because of the rotation of the earth.

Ans: The earth spins around itself while it moving around the sun. So, the part that faces the sun goes into darkness and the part that is in the dark comes into the light. That is why we have day and night on the earth alternately.
