आपल्या दैनंदिन व्यवहारात, फुलांचा वापर फार पूर्वीपासून होत आलेला आपण अनुभवलेला आहे. सुख-दुःखाच्या क्षणात फुलांचा उपयोग केला जातो. परंतु त्यानंतर कोमेजलेल्या फुलांचे अवस्थेत कोणी ढुंकून सुद्धा पाहत नाही. माझ्याबरोबर घडलेल्या प्रसंगांचे वर्णन म्हणजेच गुलाबाच्या फुलाचे मनोगत किंवा गुलाबाच्या फुलाची आत्मकथाच येथे तुम्हाला सांगत आहे. चला तर करूया सुरुवात.

गुलाबाच्या फुलाची आत्मकथा: (२०० शब्दांत)
एका दिवशी आई सोबत बाजारातून घरी परत येताना रस्त्यात एका ठिकाणी गुलाबाचे फूल खाली पडलेले दिसले. ते फुल उचलले आणि जवळच असलेल्या कचराकुंडीत टाकण्यासाठी हात पुढे केला तर ते माझ्याशी बोलू लागले.
‘काय रे! मला इथे पाहून आश्चर्य वाटले असेल ना, पण तुझ्या सारख्याच एका मुलाने मला झाडावरुन तोडले आणि निर्दयपणे रस्त्यात टाकून दिले. खरं तर मी फुलांचा राजा “गुलाब” आहे. पण बघ, माझी काय अवस्था झाली आहे?
माझा जन्म याच शेजारच्या बागेत झाला. दोन दिवसांपूर्वी मी माझ्या भाऊ बहिणींबरोबर, कोमल फांद्यांवर डोलत होतो. एक छोटीशी कळी असलेला मी आज एक पूर्ण विकसित गुलाबाचे फूल बनलो आहे. माझ्या दरवलेल्या सुगंधामुळे, अनेक मधमाशा माझ्याकडे आकर्षित झाल्या होत्या.
वसंत ऋतूत तर माझा थाट पाहत राहावा असा असतो. सर्वदूर गुलाब फुललेले असतात. बागेत, रोपवाटिकेत, इतकेच काय पण छोट्या-छोट्या कुंडीतही गुलाबाचे फुल फुललेले दिसतात. माझे इतरही अनेक फायदे आहेत. माझ्यापासून गुलाब पाणी, सुगंधित अगरबत्ती आणि अत्तरे बनवितात. माझा सौंदर्य प्रसाधनांत उपयोग करतात. माझ्या फुलांचा औषधी गुलकंद पण तयार करतात. पण इतका बहुगुणी असूनही, हे कठोर लोक,मी कोमेजलो असे पाहताच फेकून देतात. ‘गरज सरो आणि वैद्य मरो’ अशीच त्यांची वृत्ती आहे. माझ्या बाबतीतही आज हेच घडले. हे बोलताना त्याच्या डोळ्यातील पाणी वाढले होत, पुढचे शब्दही हो त्याच्या ओठातून उमटत नव्हतो.
मी ते फूल तसेच घरी खून आलो. अभ्यासाच्या टेबल वरील फुलदाणीत ठेवले. सुकल्यानंतरही मी ते फूल फेकून न देता आजही माझ्या पुस्तकात जपून ठेवले आहे.

एका दिवशी आई सोबत बाजारातून घरी परत येताना रस्त्यात एका ठिकाणी एक गुलाबाचे फूल खाली पडलेले दिसले. स्वच्छता अभियानाचा भाग म्हणून ते फुल उचलले आणि जवळच असलेल्या कचराकुंडीत टाकण्यासाठी हात पुढे केला तर ते फूल रडू लागलं. आश्चर्याने मी जवळ घेऊन पाहू लागलो तर ते माझ्याशी बोलू लागले.
‘काय रे! मला इथे पाहून आश्चर्य वाटले असेल ना, पण तुझ्या सारख्याच एका मुलाने मला झाडावरुन तोडले आणि निर्दयपणे रस्त्यात टाकून दिले. येथे पडल्या पासून कित्येक जणांच्या लाथा खात-खात, धक्के खात मी या कचराकुंडी पाशी पोहचलो.
खरं तर मी फुलांचा राजा आहे “गुलाब”. पण बघ, माझी काय अवस्था झाली आहे?
माझा जन्म याच शेजारच्या बागेत झाला. दोन दिवसांपूर्वी मी माझ्या भाऊ बहिणींबरोबर, कोमल फांद्यांवर डोलत होतो. सुरुवातीला एक छोटीशी कळी असलेला मी आज एक पूर्ण विकसित गुलाबाचे फूल बनलो आहे. माझ्या दरवलेल्या सुगंधामुळे, अनेक मधमाशा माझ्याकडे आकर्षित झाल्या होत्या. माझ्याभोवती घिरट्या घालणाऱ्या भुंग्यांना माझ्याकडून परागकण घेऊन गेले. गार थंडीत पडणाऱ्या धुक्यांच्या दवबिंदूनी मला स्नान घातले. हवेच्या झुळकेने मला पुसले, गोंजारले. सूर्यप्रकाशात उमलण्यास शिकलो.
