Types of adverbs | Definition of adverb: The words which describe the extra feature of a verb are called Adverbs.
– An adverb is a word that modifies a verb.
➥ He writes quickly.
➦ He runs fast.
➥ The tortoise walks slowly.
In the above sentences “writes”, “runs”, and “walks” are verbs
Where as “quickly”, “fast”, and “slowly” are the adverbs.

1] Adverbs of Time :
The word adverbs know the time of that verb, is called Adverbs of Time.
Adverbs of Time mainly modify verbs.
➥ Vishal met me yesterday.
➦ We play in the evening.
➥ Vedanti goes to school in the morning.
➤ In the above sentences “yesterday”, “evening”, and “morning” are Adverbs of Time.
➣ To find the Adverbs of time from the sentence we have to ask the next questions to the noun i.e. “When ?”
➤ e.g.: When did Vishal meet me?
2] Adverbs of Frequency :
The word adverbs know the how often the verb occurs is called Adverbs of Frequency.
➤ This frequency may be definite or indefinite.
➥ Rakesh always goes fast.
➦ We really go to the trip.
➥ Temple is open every day.
➦ Newspapers papers are printed daily.
➤ In the above sentences “always” and “really” are Indefinite frequency.
➤ In the above sentences “every day” and “daily” are Definite frequency.
➣ To find the Adverbs of Frequency from the sentence we have to ask the next questions to the noun i.e. “How often ?”
➤ e.g.: How often does Rakesh go fast?
3] Adverbs of Place :
The word adverbs know the location of the verb where it happens is called Adverbs of Place.
➥ We play outside.
➦ Tanmayee is sitting on the chair.
➥ Bhavi teaches at home.
➦ Harshali went inside.
➤ In the above sentences “outside”, “chair”, “home” and “inside” are Adverbs of Place.
➣ To find the Adverbs of place from a sentence we have to ask the question to the noun i.e. “Where ?”.
➤ e.g.: Where did we play?
4] Adverbs of Degree:
The word adverbs know the result, number, or proof of the action of the verb is called Adverbs of Degree.
➥ Harsh eats a little more.
➦ Harshal does not get enough sleep.
➥ Ashish talks too much.
➤ In the above sentences “little”, “enough” and “too” are Adverbs of Degree.
➣ To find the Adverbs of a degree from sentence we have to ask the question to the noun i.e. “How much?”.
➤ e.g.: How much does Harsh eats?
5] Adverbs of manner :
The word adverbs that let us know the ways in which the verb occurs is called Adverbs of Manner.
➥ Akash eats quickly.
➦ Neel studies well.
➥ Swara writes carefully.
➤ In the above sentences “quickly”, “well” and “carefully” these are Adverbs of Manner.
➣ To find the Adverbs of Manner from the sentence we have to ask the question to the noun i.e. “How?”.
